“NINJAS VS” FILM DIRECTOR AND INDIE FILM COMPOSER JUSTIN TIMPANE RELEASES LOVE SONG ALBUM: “UNLOVESICK”
Writer/Director of the internationally popular “NINJAS VS” Trilogy of films, as well host of the “TREKOFF” podcast and star of the film of the same name, Justin Timpane announces the release of “Unlovesick: Love Songs 1991-2017”, on streaming services such as Spotify and Soundcloud as well as for purchase on services such as iTunes and Amazon, and many more.
“The album has songs I wrote as a teenager, ranging all the way to a song written last month,” Timpane explains, “although all are produced and imagined for today’s audiences”. While Unlovesick is made up entirely of romantic music, the styles vary in unexpected and enticing ways, ranging from the Beatle-esque “Her Songs”, to the Plain White T’s inspired “Because I love You”. Anthems such as ”Masterpiece” or “Fine” would be at home on any late Aerosmith album. Peppered between the larger productions are sad, sweet piano ballads such as “Flame’s Stopped Flying” and “Reason Why”, which invoke Ben Folds’ “Luckiest”, or Billy Joel’s “She’s Got a Way”.
Justin Timpane’s exploits in directing and podcasting were preceded by his accomplishments as a composer of film scores for the late Don Dohler’s final films “Dead Hunt” and “Crawler”, as well as orchestral interludes for theatrical productions of “The Crucible” and “Approaching Zanzibar” in DC area theatres. In 2015, Timpane released the geek-rap single and video “We Are Nerds”, to thousands of listens and views. Timpane’s album “Three” in 2004 included the popular “Gethsemane” which played on XM Radio, as well as the ever popular “Presidentialized”.
While “Unlovesick” may seem like a departure of sorts for an artist best known for cult action films and comedy podcasting, Timpane explains “Long before anyone ever thought of me as a director, I was that guy in high school or the hotel lobby, serenading whoever would come to listen.”
The question being asked by fans of course is “Is this the precursor to the film musical that has been rumored for so many years”? Timpane plays coy on that one saying “I used to say ‘one day, one day’… I can definitively tell you that the day is coming, and sooner than before, but when is anyone’s guess. I’m focused right now on making great music for you.”.
