Moses Child:
This is Babylon
Moses
is our 1st Place winner of our compilation CD Contest. The song 'This is
Babylon' is a soulful, well-composed, well-performed tune. This song rolls
around in your head for days and weeks, the lyrics are poignant and timely. His
delivery is superb and his instrumentation is rich and full. We are proud to
have met this man and to be exposed to his music.
Moses Child was born on Jan. 29th, 1972 in N.Y.C. and raised in the artsy district of Greenwich Village, Manhattan. As a child, he was always captivated by the sound of singing, both melodies and harmonies, and he started singing with his family almost before he could walk. By the time Moses Child was in high school, he was also playing piano, guitar, and flute, and he discovered that he loved writing music and performing it for friends and strangers in Central Park and the NYC subways.
By the end of high school, he had started to become obsessive about his songwriting and home recordings. This led him to pursue English, music production and advanced computer music at N.Y.U’s Gallatin division, and briefly at Montreal’s McGill Conservatory, studying ear-training, music history and theory.
At the age of 23, Moses Child took an audio engineering
position at P.P.I. Recording Studios in Manhattan, and spent the next 3 years
first as an engineer, and later as the studio’s main A/V engineer.
Then, at 26, Moses Child opened his own recording studio in Montreal with the
help of his friends, family, and devoted clients. Since that time, Moses Child
has spent his time recording numerous artists and bands records, singles and
demos, and also pursued a career giving advice to these artists to help them
with their projects and careers. He has been involved creatively with numerous
artists, including Montreal’s “Triple Madness” brothers where he co-produced and
co-wrote a number of the album’s tracks. He has also performed, recorded and
produced two songs for the songwriter Frank Dalton (Karla Faye Tucker, and Funny
Kisses.)
Now Moses Child is focusing his talent on writing and recording songs for his own upcoming CD release “Songs I Owe...” Look out for a full length CD release in the spring of 2006.
