Singer/songwriter/guitarist Nicolette Aubourg is originally from South Africa but resides in Los Angeles. She performs at various acoustic venues in Los Angeles, such as Genghis Cohen, as well as in festivals in South Africa. Her music has been heard on college and public radio, in independent movies, and was featured on NBC's "Passions". Nicolette studied classical guitar, piano, vocal performance and music theory, and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and English. Literature is her main source of lyrical inspiration. In addition to her musical career, Nicolette is an artist, and several of her paintings can be seen inside her début CD, "Grand View Drive", which was named after a street in Laurel Canyon. The CD was produced by Steve Holroyd, Bob Sheehan and Nicolette Aubourg, and features accomplished musicians Bob Sheehan (drums & percussion), Doug Baker (bass) Robert Fedeli (B3 organ), Adam Chester (piano), Charlie Bisharat (violin), and Stefanie Fife (cello), with additional musicians Frank Simes (electric guitar), Gavin Lurssen (Ebow & baritone guitar), Jorgen Carlsson (bass), and Neil Sebba (drums & bell tree). Vocals, background vocals, acoustic guitar and baritone guitar are by Nicolette.
Nicolette's next CD, "Songs from Willow Glen" is scheduled to be released by March 2007. It was recorded in the Hollywood Hills and includes several songs that were “inspired by life in Laurel Canyon”. Other songs on the CD are, “Garden of Remembrance”, which is a tribute to the victims of September 11th, “Craig’s List” (“a tongue-in-cheek song about online dating”), “Ode to a dog” (“dedicated to all dogs”), and two sonnets (Yeats and Shelley) put to music. The CD was produced by Jorgen Carlsson, who also played percussion, bass and electric guitar, and includes Jeff Young on keyboards/B3, Stefanie Fife on cello, and Erik Eldenius on drums.
