Stump
Tied Up, Try'd & oh so Tired
Emerging Artist Award
Born and raised in the desert mountain town of Flagstaff, Arizona. Stump (born Justin Adam Stump) was taught most everything he knows about music in the church. At age 5 Stump was forced to take piano lessons by his mother. At such an early age he didn't realize his natural musical ability. As Stump grew up he desired to play guitar like his father, at age 12 his pops taught him 3 chords and told him, "if you want to play, just do it." Stump then began teaching himself the mysterious art of entertaining. All through high school Stump played in bands and along side friends that would begin helping him realize the finer points of his musical ability. After high school Stump moved to Phoenix, where he met up with RV, the founder and CEO of indie hip hop label "Phunkthouse" . Since 2000 after joining the Phunkthouse team, Stump has proved himself to be not only an amazing singer/song writer, but also a very prestigious producer and rapper. When asked about how and why he works in and with so many different genres of music. Stump responded with, "I just like to entertain, it doesn't matter what kind of music it is, as long as people enjoy it, and can allow themselves to be captivated by it." Stump is currently in the writing process of his second album, which is rumored to be titled "Roots", no release date available at this time.
