On Saturday, September 2nd, Barracuda will host Astrotheque for their long awaited return to the stage. Astrotheque will be joined by Alt-tronic duo Hamerzya, and Electronic Pop-Punk trio The Obsolete Machines. Advance tickets will be available online through bandsintown.com, August 21st.
Cover will be $7.
The Album. Return to Form is Astrotheque’s debut album, slated for digital release in November 2017. Return to Form was co-written and co-produced by Singer/Guitarist JDub, and internationally acclaimed electronic artist Claudio Ramirez, from Caracas, Venezuela, who has over 70 albums to his credit. The first single off the album will be announced in September and released in October 2017.
What’s in a name? Astrotheque is a word mash-up combining the prefix astron from classical Greek, meaning ‘of a cosmic nature’, and thèque from the Latin (biblio)thèque, meaning library. Thus, Astrotheque means ‘Library of Cosmos’: The name came to producer Claudio Ramirez in a dream, and perfectly reflects the celestial beauty of the Astrotheque sound.
NASA-Approved. Inspired by the meaning of their new name, Astrotheque immediately approached NASA for permission to use audio recordings from scientific missions. NASA promptly granted access to content from numerous flight recorders, and even samples of late president John F. Kennedy. Return to Form features several of these space-age soundscapes within and between songs.
Astrotheque is a Digital Dream Pop trio from Austin, TX, comprised of singer/songwriter/producer JDub, electronic artist/programmer John Looke [‘Luke’], and drummer Dave Terry.
