Shannon JohnsonBoys will be Boys Growing up in a small town near Muscle Shoals, Alabama, which is rich with songwriters and music business professionals, Alan Hill and I (Shannon Johnson) were exposed to their many talents and writing styles. Also, we especially were influenced by the writing styles of Don Henley and Glenn Frey of the Eagles. We began getting together in high school and writing songs and jotting down ideas. We continued after high school and met regularly at a local restaurant after hours to write and listen to other buddies sing and play and toss around ideas. We also became friends with some of the professional songwriters in the area. By hanging around these guys, we learned more about the music business than you could ever read in a book. Their advice was invaluable, and we are very appreciative for all their help. It brought to reality how great it would be to write a hit song. We were about 17 years old then and now we’re in our early 40’s. That gives you an idea of how long we have been at this. They say that time heals all wounds, but they never said that time could be a wound itself. We look forward to the future and hope that all this hard work will pay off. |

Brian Courtright Get Away Isle Brian
was that kid who started out on mom's pots and pans in the kitchen
while listening to the radio. "Hearing music as a child excited me
to no end. I felt I was already a part of the music and knew it was
going to be my life." Born and raised in Sacramento, California
Brian got his musical experience from playing drums with every kind
of band possible. School marching band, jazz band, swing choir, his
buddy's house playing Chuck Berry & Yardbirds songs, at that house
where the hippies jam, in the garage around the corner playing Led
Zeppelin & The Who. At 18 he joined the U.S. Air Force and became a
special vehicle mechanic working on flight line firetrucks & crash
equipment. While stationed at Kedena AFB in Okinawa, Japan, Brian
suffered a traumatic amputation to his right hand while working on
emergency equipment. He was medicaly discharged with full honors and
a 60% disability. Brian went back to playing drums, having to learn
a new approach now missing all the fingers on his right hand. "It
made me really focus on my left hand and opened up the door to many
unique percussion ideas." Brian began writing songs when a buddy
who had brought this monstrous all-in-one recording device called
the Tascam SX1 to his home because his friend could not figure out
how to use it. "The instruction book looked like a fat dictionary!"
After figuring out how to lay some basic tracks, Brian started
flirting around with recording drum beats and ideas he had created
over the years. "I had this one drum pattern that just made me want
to get up and dance. So I plunked out a simple bass line on my
keyboard and strumed an old acoustic nylon string guitar. The words
seemed to write themselves as I listened to the music and, man, I
was hooked! Writing songs opened up a new creative outlet. My goal
is to get my music noticed by a label, artist or publisher looking
for material."http://www.myspace.com/briancourtright |

Kerry Hill
Kerry's love for performing and music started way back from her early childhood.. Born and growing up in a town north of Melbourne, Australia... her mother had her treading the dance floor & stage in tap and ballet shoes from the age of 3...Kerry performed in many theatrical stage shows, concerts and won countless eisteddfords & competitions around Australia including numourous television appearances. As a young girl in the mid 1980's, Kerry lived next door to a very famous Australian rock icon, in this time Kerry was introduced to many prominent 'rock stars' that Kerry idolised ie: INXS, Paul Kelly, Divinyls, Jenny Morris etc..Kerry was hooked! She knew her heart was in songwriting and spent many an hour studying her idols and performing in front of the mirror! Whilst studying music and the arts at College, Kerry performed in many cover bands and was able to showcase her original material to a vast audience always with enthusiastic response....Could she be onto something here? One of Kerry's main passions in life has been to pick up a pen, paper and her trusty guitar and get out of her head and onto paper as many lyrics, thoughts, emotions, melodies as she can and turn it into an amazing original composition...most often based on events and experiences around her.
